Author: Claire Denman | 03 Aug 2021
In amongst our busy days, taking time for ourselves can be pushed to the bottom of the to-do list. In reality we all have time to practice some form of self-care, we just need to make it a priority.
Practicing self-care can be as simple as listening to a podcast, doing breathing exercises, spending time with friends and loved ones [even if it’s over Zoom!] or simply burning your favourite candle. At Burchgrove Home, we encourage it in any form!
Gone are the days of making excuses or feeling guilty for taking time for yourself. Self-care is so important for our mental, emotional and physical health. It’s a practice of self-love. Be kind to yourself and listen to your body’s needs.
Put yourself first by building a self-care routine that works for you. Next step is to make these habits a priority. Our 5 top tips can help kickstart your self-care journey!
SPEND TIME OUTSIDE
Get some fresh air and soak up the sun by sitting outside or going for a walk on your lunch break. It’s a great way to decrease your screen time and it’ll help clear your mind and reset for tasks ahead.
GET MOVING
Anything to get your body moving and releasing those endorphins! Try going for a walk [around the block if that’s all you have time for], stretching or challenging yourself at the gym. While you’re at it, blast some of your favourite music. It’ll leave you feeling positive and motivated for the day.
KEEP WORK AND SELF-CARE SPACES SEPARATE
Don’t start the workday on the couch or in bed, set up a dedicated workspace to separate work from play. When working from home it can be difficult to switch off. It’s important to make a conscious effort to clock off and wind down for the evening.
MAKE TIME FOR HOBBIES
Engage in something that excites you or that you’re passionate about. It could be anything from reading or learning a new skill to cooking or practicing mediation.
PAMPER YOURSELF
Unwind with a soothing lavender bath or take time for your full skincare routine. Snuggle up on the couch in your favourite fluffy robe and slippers. Enjoy a movie that’s been sitting in your Netflix watch list. Light a candle, make a cup of tea and relax.
Now’s the perfect time to take care of your body and mind and treat yourself as a priority
